可逆元[血四州创e日，姆nt;o6p姗朋益，理Me.r]，有单位元的半群的 元素x，对于它有元素y使得xy“l(右可逆性(月翻】t inw3rtj城ty))或y工=1(左可逆性(leftin-说川b习ity)).若元素既是右可逆的，又是左可逆的，就称为双边可逆的(t从心一side川y invertible)(通常简称为可逆的).有单位元的半群S中具有双边逆的全部元素的集合G(S)是S中含单位元的最大的子群.双循环半群(b‘界lic~一细uP)是一个例子，其中有元素仅为右可逆的或左可逆的;此外半群S中这样元素的存在蕴含了S中存在着双循环子半群，它与S有同一个单位元.换一种情形，就是S中的元素若有单边逆就有双边逆;这情况具备当且仅当或者S二G(S)或S\G(S)是子半群(显然是S中最大的理想);这样的半群称为具有孤立的群部分的半群.下面是这样的半群的例子:有单位元的有限半群，有单位元的交换半群，具有双边消去律和单位元的半群以及含单位元的复矩阵的乘法半群.
