后魏捍乌突戍,《北史慕容绍宗传》“尔朱兆败绍宗于乌突城,并兆余众自归神武,”北周置乌突郡及乌突县,隋改为太和郡太和县,寻废郡,唐改太和为临泉县,故城在今山西临县西四十里。
