鹤望兰喜温暖湿润气候，怕霜雪；喜光，但忌强光，光线弱生长纤细，出芽少，开花不正常或不开花。；生长适温为18-24℃，冬季室内温度不宜低于5℃。土壤以富含腐殖质略粘重而又渗水性良好的土壤为宜，忌积水。盆栽不宜过深，以免影响新芽萌发；2-3年需换一次盆。盆土可用2份园土、1份腐叶土、部分河沙配制，盆底垫5-10厘米炉碴，以利排水；防止肉质根腐烂。
鹤望兰怕旱忌涝，肥水管理要适量。夏季需水量大，应每天浇一次水，并向叶面及盆周围喷水，秋冬季适量减少。鹤望兰喜肥，除盆中需加入适量的磷、钾肥作基肥外，生长季节每隔两周施一次稀薄肥，冬季停止施止施肥。花茎形成之盛花期宜施2-3次磷肥，以使开花茂盛，花色鲜艳。鹤望兰会发生介壳虫危害。发现后可人工清除；夏季高温，为介壳虫活动期，可用800倍亚胺硫磷药液，每周喷洒1次防治。
