（术语）心为万法之本，能生一切诸法，故曰心地。又，修行者依心而近行，故曰心地。又，三业中，心业最胜，故曰心地。心地观经八曰：“三界之中以心为主，能观心者究竟解脱，不能观者究竟沉沦。众生之心犹如大地，五谷五果从大地生，如是心法生世出世善恶五趣有学无学独觉菩萨及于如来，以此因缘三界唯心，心名为地。”楞严经二曰：“本元心地。”止观五上曰：“心定如地不可动。”大日经疏三曰：“如世人举趾动足皆依于地，菩萨亦如是依心进行，故名此心为地。”天台戒疏上曰：“三业之中，意业为主，身口居次，据胜为论，故为心地也。”
