在系统的物理模型上进行试验的技术。物理模型是用几何相似或物理类比方法建立的,它可以描述系统的内部特性,也可以描述试验所必需的环境条件。如风洞试验,是将按比例缩小的飞机模型悬挂在具有亚音速或超音速气流的风洞内,测定飞机的各种气动系数。飞机模型和风洞就是物理模型。又如将水域的地形,水坝按比例缩小做成实物模型,进行水流试验;将飞机的姿态角传感器(陀螺仪)安装在能复现飞机的俯仰、横滚、偏航三个角运动的三自由度飞行仿真转台上,进行飞行控制系统的实验等。物理仿真与数学仿真(见仿真)的主要区别在于:①物理仿真是通过建立物理模型来实现的。物理仿真系统是真实系统的几何相似物或物理类比物。几何相似是指同一个物理过程(如机械运动过程或电的动态过程等)的不同尺寸系统之间的相似关系。物理类比是指两种不同的物理过程(例如机械运动和电的动态过程等)具有相同的数学描述,它们可以互为仿真实验模型。而数学仿真是通过建立数学模型在计算机上实现的,利用模拟计算机的电路的动态过程或数字计算机的数字运算过程来描述各种物理过程。因此物理仿真系统是专用的;而数学仿真系统(即仿真计算机)是通用的。②物理仿真要求实时仿真,而数学仿真可以是实时的或非实时的(包括超实时和亚实时)。
