Survey and research have been conducted to the soil formation condition and process and basic characteristics of brown-red soil which is the parent material of red clay and was developed in Quaternary Period in Jiang Xia District, Wuhan City.

This paper covered the zinc content and the factors affecting zinc availability in brown red soil from the angle of improving human Zn-nutrition, pointing out that the soil was rich in zinc element.
