又称"睡眠病"。由锥虫所致的中枢神经系统感染性疾病。借采采蝇传播，流行于非洲南北纬20°之间，临床上有长期不规则发热，中枢神经系统病变引起的头痛、反应迟钝、嗜睡，以至昏迷等。精神神经症状和浅表淋巴结肿大。治疗：在中枢神经系统受侵犯前，可使用苏拉明钠、戍烷眯等药物；晚期病人，可用硫坤密胺，并应加强营养，予以维生素、铁剂等。及早发现、隔离和有效地治疗病人，控制传染源是预防本病的重要措施。
