雀形目鹟科 1个属。尾较翅长或等长，头有羽冠。全世界约12种，主要分布于亚洲和非洲。中国仅有寿带鸟（见图）和紫寿带鸟2种。嘴大而扁平,上嘴具棱脊，嘴须粗长。寿带鸟上体栗色,下体白色,胸部苍灰色。雄鸟除头部为蓝黑色外，体羽全部变成白色。栖息于山区或丘陵地带的树丛中。主要以昆虫为食，也兼食少量植物质。繁殖期5～7月。巢呈侧圆锥形，位于离地2～6米的树杈上，以草茎、树叶、树皮等物构成，外敷以苔藓、地衣并络以蛛丝。每窝产卵3～4枚。卵乳白色，具少许红褐色斑点。紫寿带鸟头、颈、胸黑色，具羽冠，余部暗褐并具金属光泽；下胸灰色，至腹部逐渐成白色；尾黑。紫寿带鸟在中国有2个亚种:指名亚种在华东沿海各省为旅鸟，在台湾为留鸟；兰屿亚种仅见于台湾附近的兰屿岛。
