subtropics the hungriness steppe take本带处在热带荒漠和亚热带森林带（包括亚热带常绿硬叶林带和亚热带常绿阔叶林带）之间，在北半球位于热带荒漠带的北缘；南半球则出现在澳大利亚的南部以及非洲和南美洲南部的部分地区。气候属于亚热带干旱与半干旱类型。随着由热带荒漠向纬度较高地区推进，年降水量有所增加，但最大降水量常在低温时期，夏季则高温、少雨，使本带干旱、缺水。植被类型属于荒漠草原，通常生长有旱生灌木及禾本科植物，在较湿润的季节里有短生植物的生长，土壤属于半荒漠的淡棕色土。
