栎 Quercus 壳斗科栎属植物的通称,不包括青冈属。又称橡、槲。全属有300多种,分布在北半球的欧、亚、非、美4洲。中国有60多种及变种。栎木材坚硬,花纹美观,耐磨耐腐,可供家具、室内装修、车辆等用材。栎实可作饲料、酿酒、浆纱等用。树皮、壳斗可提制栲胶。落叶栎类的嫩叶可饲养柞蚕,老叶作饲料。栓皮栎树皮可制软木。栎材及其枝桠是很好的薪炭材。利用栎木可培养香菇及木耳等。
栎为常绿或落叶乔木,稀灌木。单叶互生,披针形、椭圆形或倒卵形,叶缘有锯齿或波状裂片。花单性,雌雄同株,雄花序为下垂柔荑花序,雌花单生或数朵生于一总梗上排成穗状。坚果,基部有杯状壳斗包着。在中国除新疆只有栽培种外,全国都有野生栎类分布。种类有麻栎类、槲栎类、高山栎类、巴东栎类。 落叶栎类多为喜光树种,一般较耐寒,其中尤以蒙古栎、辽东栎、槲树耐寒性最强,其次是麻栎、栓皮栎;而白栎等则较喜温暖,水青冈对霜冻较敏感。常绿栎类较耐荫,对热量要求高,但川滇高山栎较耐寒,而巴东栎等则耐寒性较差。落叶栎较耐干旱,常绿栎类较喜湿润。栎树对土壤要求不严,一般中性土、石灰性土和酸性土上均能生长,抗烟尘、耐火力强。深根性,萌芽力强。生长速度因树种而异,其中以麻栎、栓皮栎生长较快。用于造林的树种以麻栎、栓皮栎为主。直播造林多采用穴播。以营造松栎混交林为宜,不但生长快,而且病虫害少。
