性质:此词有二含义,有(1)指吲羟-β-葡糖苷,或羟基吲哚-β-葡糖苷(indoxyl-β-glucoside),又称靛苷。含3分子结晶水的白色丝状晶体(由水重结晶),熔点57~58℃,旋光度-66 (水)。于110℃加热或于热醇溶液中加苯,即得无水物。无水物熔点176~178℃(由无水乙醇重结晶),旋光度-78 (水)。易溶于水、甲醇、乙醇、丙酮,难溶于乙醚、苯、氯仿、乙酸乙酯。由稀酸水解可得吲羟与葡糖。靛蓝在植物体内是作为本品存在的。本品存在于豆科植物Indifofera loptostachya, I.sumatrana, I. arrecta及十字花科植物Istis tinctoria、蓼科植物靛草(Peusicaria tinctoria)等的叶中。用冷的丙酮对上述植物的叶进行萃取,再将不溶于石油醚的粗产品进行重结晶,以制出精制品。用作有机合成原料。其衍生物五醋酸酯,无色针状结晶,熔点148℃,旋光度-47.9 (丙酮中)。(2)指吲羟-β-硫酸钾或羟基吲哚-β-硫酸钾。游离酸在哺乳动物尿中大量含有,血清中也有,但不稳定,其钾盐最稳定。无色板晶或叶晶。179~180℃升华并分解得靛蓝。易溶于水,能溶于热乙醇,但冷却后极难溶。水溶液在催化剂存在下见光可生成靛蓝。摄取的食物蛋白质分解生成色氨酸,被肠内细菌进一步分解成吲哚,被肠壁吸收,在肝脏内被氧化成吲羟。后者与硫酸结合成吲羟硫酸,从肝脏进入血液,经过肾从尿中排出。因而肾有病的人其血中尿蓝母量增加。便秘、肠梗塞、癌等引起肠管内、外蛋白质分解量异常,都可能使尿中尿蓝母量增加。已利用于临床诊断。
