【来源】
为木犀科植物羽叶丁香的根或枝干。
【植物形态】
羽叶丁香 直立灌木，高可达3～4米。树皮灰褐色。羽状复叶；小叶7～11片，卵形、卵状椭圆形或卵状披针形，有短柄，先端圆或急尖，基部圆形或广楔形。圆锥花序腋生；花淡紫色。蒴果红褐色，长不足1厘米。 生于高山灌木丛中。
【采集】
全年采挖，以秋末为好。挖取树根，除净外皮，晒干。
【性味】
辛，微温。
【功用主治】
降气，温中，暖肾。
【选方】
①治寒喘：山沉香一钱五分，五味子、附子各二钱。水煎服。 ②治胃腹胀痛：山沉香、小茴香各一钱五分。水煎服。 ③治子宫下垂，脱肛：山沉香适量，烧烟熏患处。 ④治皮肤擦伤：山沉香烧灰，加香油调成糊状外涂，可防止发炎。(性味以下出《宁夏中草药手册》)
