中国农业科学院附属小学地处北京市海淀区中关村科技园区，分为两个校区。本部在中国农业科学院院内，分部在中央财经大学西侧。同时毗邻中央民族大学、北京理工大学、铁道科学院、钢铁研院等多家高校与科研院所。
学校现有学生近2000名，教师121名，是海淀区双榆树中心学区规模最大的小学。学校全面实行小班化教学，目前有48个教学班。
学校具有先进的教育教学思想，提出了颇俱时代特色的办学理念“一二三四”（一所“安全无障碍学校”；两个教育关注点：“所有的”孩子与“每一个”孩子；三种受教育主体：学生、教师、家长；四条师德原则）。
学校的教育理念：让孩子健康快乐成长，用知识哺育孩子，用爱滋润孩子，用文明引领孩子，用快乐，感染孩子。教师和孩子在平等中互动，以成长促进成长，以心灵塑造心灵。
农科院附小大力发展艺术教育，取得了令人瞩目的成就。学校金帆艺术团下设管乐队、合唱队、舞蹈队、美术书画社等，全校80%以上的学生参加了各艺术团的活动，绝大多数学生都能够在学校发展自己的某一艺术爱好。几年来，我校艺术教育取得了丰硕的成就，多次在市区级各类艺术比赛中获得一、二等奖，参加了国内国际一系列重大演出活动，足迹从北京到香港、澳门，到欧洲。
学校引进市、区级骨干教师和硕士研究生，并聘请一些在教学上有突出贡献的其它学校的教师和大学教师做为学校的顾问，使学校教师队伍呈现出三级优化结构：专家学者型教师，经验丰富型教师，年青有为型教师。以科研带动教育教学的进步，开展校内教学科研活动，大大促进了学校教育教学质量的提高。
