形态特征常绿灌木。高1.5-4m，或更高。叶片卵形、圆形、长圆形，背面具小腺点。花伞形或总状伞形，有花5-14朵；花管宽杯状或碗状，黄色。花期6-7月。喜冷湿，喜光。
中国特有植物。产西藏东南部，生于海拔3700-4500m的冷杉林下或高山灌丛中。四川和云南西北部也产。本种在光照条件下。花蕾红色；蕾花并存，格外夺目。
