Eggs of Black-crowned Night Heron(Nycticorax nycticorax) and Little Egret(Egretta garzetta) were sampled in May of 2005 from Yingshang Balihe Reserve,Anhui Province.
2005年5月,采集了淮河地区颍上八里河集群繁殖的夜鹭(Nycticorax nycticorax)和小白鹭(Egrettagarzetta)鸟卵共18枚,用原子吸收法测定了卵壳、内容物中重金属Cd、Pb、Cr的残留量。

夏季分布于我国东北、河北和山东;在福建和台湾越冬。
体长约520毫米。头顶和枕部冠羽黑色并具辉绿。眼下方有一黑色条纹延达颈侧。颈及背部蓑羽灰色。翼和尾黑色，翅缘白色。翼上及羽绿色，羽缘白色。胸、腹、肋呈鼠灰色。幼鸟冠羽较短，黑色中杂以栗色条纹;缺少背蓑羽;下体白，具棕色条纹。腿和脚暗黄色。
主要栖息于山谷溪流的灌木丛中，白天隐蔽，夜间外出寻食。食物有小鱼、小虾、田螺及水生昆虫等。平时多单独活动。夏季繁殖，营巢于小灌木上，偶尔也见于石堆中。
鹭科中比较罕见的鸟类，应注意保护。
