   测定核爆炸的时间、地点、当量、高度（深度），以及核弹类型等参数的专用仪器。所获参数用以估算部队受损情况和放射性沾染情况。
   核爆炸观测仪通常可分为自动测量仪器和目视观测仪器。自动测量仪器，通过测量与爆炸能量有关的数据（如光脉冲最小照度到来时间、冲击波负压持续时间等）确定爆炸当量，通过测量火球中心的方位角和高低角，交会确定爆炸地点和爆炸高度（深度）。目视观测仪器，由人员直接操作专用的光学仪器或方向盘、炮队镜，观测烟云的有关数据，确定爆炸当量；观测尘柱中心轴线的方位角，交会确定爆炸地点。也可观测火球中心的方位角和高低角，确定爆炸地点和爆炸高度。
