| 两湖平原 长江中下游平原的一部分。位于中国湖北省中部和湖南省北部。又称云梦平原。面积约5万平方千米。大部分海拔在50米以下。可分为北部的江汉平原、南部的洞庭湖平原。原系古云梦泽，受长江及其支流泥沙的淤积，逐渐成为湖积冲积平原，湖泊面积日益缩小，如今已淤塞分裂成为上千个大小湖泊。较大的湖泊有1300多个，加上小湖泊1万多个，面积1.2万多平方千米。占平原面积的20％以上。为中国湖泊最多的地方。主要有洞庭湖、洪湖、长湖、三湖、黄塘湖、梁子湖、汈汊湖等。其中洞庭湖是最大的，有“八百里洞庭”之称。平原地势低平，河湖密布，土壤肥沃，物产丰富，盛产稻米。自古有“两湖熟，天下足”之称。 |
