预报低温冷害，在日本有40余年历史，从水稻、大豆等作物冷害指标，关键期及其生理机制，到冷害预报和抗御怜害的综合措施，都有较深入的研究。中国自20世纪50一70年代开展这项工作，其中以中国东北冷害预报和长江以南水稻“寒露风”预报开展较多。 低温冷害预报一方面要对未来时期的低温进行预测;同时要考虑未来时期作物的生育过程，并估测作物受害的可能性和受害程度。低温预报方法与天气预报没有严格的区别。长期预报(季度、年度预报)主要用统计回归方法建立各种预报方程(见统计天气预报)o中小台站多以天气谚语为线索，应用点聚图、距平相关、时间剖面图等方法。近年来，还研究应用模糊数学方法预报低温，在定性预报上有一定的效果。短期主要用天气图方法(见天气图预报)和动力数值方法(见数值天气预报无 作物生育期预报是低温冷害预报的前提条件之一。低温过程出现在作物生育的关键阶段，就可能使作物受害(见冷害)。(王宝成)d iwen!enghal yubao低温冷害预报(foreeast of eool da-mage)针对作物生长期间可能发生的异常低温过程及作物可能受害状况编制的农业气象灾害预报。异常低温过程是指在作物营养生长期或生殖生长期出现的持续时间较长的夏季低温或秋季低温，使作物生理活动受障，生殖器官受害，导致生育推迟。由于在它出现的前后，温度及其他气象要素没有剧烈变化和巨大差异，它的致害过程不易被察觉。低温危害是一种累积效应.一旦出现，造成的灾情重、受灾范围大。因此，这种预报既可为制定作物种植计划提供依据，又可为避免或减轻灾害，采取应急措施提供参考。
