黑橡胶树(Nyssa sylvatica)为蓝果树科蓝果树属落叶乔木。产于北美,从加拿大到墨西哥湾都有分布。株高9~15米,冠幅7.5~10.5米。树冠卵圆形或金字塔形,枝条水平生长。单叶互生,全缘,卵形至长方形,长10~15厘米,宽5~7.5厘米。叶子正面深绿背面浅绿,秋天叶色变为橘黄、猩红、紫红。春天开花,花量大,秋天结果,小果蓝黑色。树干不易折断,当年小枝为棕褐色或灰色。
生长速度较慢。喜光及温暖湿润气候,在土壤贫瘠干旱地区生长缓慢,喜潮湿、排水良好的微酸性土壤(pH值5.5~6.5)中生长良好,土层宜深厚。种植后需要有防风设施,能耐-10℃左右的短期低温,耐土壤盐分的能力较强。育苗方法:冷层积3个月,发芽率可达到83%,经过沙藏的种子播前可不进行处理。条播每平方米播种12~20克,覆土约2厘米。1年生苗可出圃。
