节肢动物门昆虫纲的鳞翅目、襀翅目、膜翅目的蛛形纲幼虫和蜘蛛目的蜘蛛等,体内能分泌粘液丝质物的器官,称为丝腺。如鳞翅目家蚕的体内具有2条丝腺,呈管状,前端较细,左右2条丝腺的先端于头部并合成吐丝管;中部最粗,可分泌丝胶;后部最长,能分泌丝质。老熟家蚕的丝腺,可长达其体长的2倍多。蛛形纲蜘蛛的丝腺位于腹部的腹面、胃外区的后方,形状因种而异。有葡萄状腺、梨状腺、壶状腺、管状腺、鞭状腺、叶状腺、聚合腺和筛板腺等多种形状。除筛板腺与腹部外面的筛器相通外,其余的均与腹部末端的纺绩器相通。丝腺的大小、数目,随幼蛛的成长而逐渐增长或增多。
