The findings from the investigation at the forestry workstations in Longsheng County of Guangxi reveal that the grass-root level forestry workstations are undertaking heavy tasks and playing a big role in forestry development and management although they are facing such tough situations as the imperfect management system and hard work conditions.

This paper dealt with the functions of basic forestry stations in ecological public welfare forest protection and management,summarized the success experiences since the experimental unit work development of forest ecological benefit assistance fund.

According to the status,function,and existing difficulties and problems of forestry stations in forest ownership reform and the modern forestry construction,the author thinks that priorities should be given to five aspects in strengthening the forestry stations\' construction so as to provide a solid basic security for the forest ownership reform.
