By the fieldwork and indoor experiment,the changes of the community structure and function of degraded hilly grassland,such as plant diversity,biomass,and soil nutrition,during the vegetation restoration from herb dominance to shrub dominance in south subtropical Heshan,Guangdong,were examined.

Based on the principle of gradualy control, different level classification, all covering and main factors, the steep cultivated land for quitting was classified to 6 site type areas by macrolandforms, 5 site type subareas by rock group characteristic, 2 type groups by gradient, and 3 types by soil layer thickness in noncarbonatite areas, 4 site types by soil continuity in karst areas.
按逐级控制、逐级分类、全覆盖及主导因子原则,将贵州省陡坡退耕地以大地貌及气候条件分6个类型区,以岩组性质分5个类型小区,以坡度等为2个类型组。
