    铜和铁的硫化物(Cu5FeS4)矿物,含铜量 63.3%,提炼铜的主要矿物原料之一。为四方晶系,其高温变体为等轴晶系,称等轴斑铜矿。表面易氧化呈蓝紫斑状的锖色,因而得名。新鲜断面呈暗铜红色,金属光泽,莫氏硬度 3 ,比重4.9~5.0。常呈致密块状或分散粒状见于各种类型的铜矿床中,并常与黄铜矿共生。也形成于铜矿床的次生富集带,但不稳定,而被次生辉铜矿和铜蓝置换。在地表易风化成孔雀石和蓝铜矿。中国云南东川等铜矿床中有大量的斑铜矿。世界代表性产地是美国蒙大那州的比尤特,墨西哥卡纳内阿和智利丘基卡马塔等。
