【植物形态】
植物形态：常绿乔木，高达30米。枝轮生或有不规则伸展，树皮纵裂，常露出淡红色的内皮层。叶螺旋状着生，厚革质而扭转为假2列式，叶片扁平，线状披针形，长2~6厘米，基部下延，扭转，先端渐尖，边缘有细锯齿，表面光滑，背面有2条宽白粉带（即气孔带）。花单性，同株，雄花黄绿色，丛生于枝端，圆柱状，雌花淡红色，单生或3~4枚丛生于枝稍，球状，每一胚鳞有倒垂的胚珠3枚。胚鳞发育成为种鳞，多数种鳞聚生为卵圆形的球果，种鳞革质，淡黄色，顶端尖锐，每种鳞的腹面具有种子3枚，种子扁平有狭翅。 生态分布：特产我国长江以南至南部各省，甘肃省白龙江尚有残存者。 药用部分：树皮、根、球果、杉寄生、杉树油均供药用，全年均可采收。 用途：性味辛，微温。杉材治臁疮，脚气肿痛，心腹胀满，肺壅痰滞，小儿阴肿。叶治风虫牙痛，预防疝气痛。皮治金疮出血，汤火灼伤。用量：油1~2钱，皮5钱~1两。
