The Wind Erosion Prediction System (WEPS) is a process-based, continuous,daily time-step model developed by an ARS-led,national,multidisciplinary team of scientists organized by the United States Department of Agriculture, which can simulate weather, field conditions, and soil erosion by wind.
风蚀预报系统是美国农业部组织多学科科学家开发的、目前最完整、手段最先进的土壤风蚀预报模型,成为风蚀定量评价、指导风蚀防治实践以及环境规划与评价的重要技术工具。

According to achievements of soil wind erosion research abroad,the research of wind erosion prediction was divided into four stages:the first was qualitative description stage characterized by wind erosion phenomenon description;the second was quantitative research stage;the third stage was the establishment and improvement of WEQ and the fourth was the establishment and perfection of WEPS.

Currently,the TC numerical prediction system at National Meteorological Center(NMC) of China is based on a global model using the initialization scheme of inserting a bogus vortex into the analysis field.
应用新的台风数值预报系统,文中对2006年生成于西北太平洋23个不同类型的台风进行了连续数值试验,统计分析表明,新系统在改进台风路径预报效果上有了不俗的表现,相比于业务使用的人造bogus涡旋方案而言,120 h预报时效内的平均路径误差有了十几公里到上百公里的下降。
