| 天蛾 Sphingidae；sphinx moths 鳞翅目天蛾科的通称。世界性分布，主要在热带。全世界约1000余种，中国约150种。体型较大，前翅大而狭长，翅顶角尖，具翅缰和翅缰钩，触角粗厚，端部成钩。喙发达，非一般蛾类可比，飞翔力强，经常飞翔于花丛间取蜜。大多数种类夜间活动，少数日间活动。幼虫肥大，圆柱形，光滑，体面多颗粒。第八腹节背中部有一臀角，入土后作土茧化蛹，蛹的第五节和第六节能活动，末节有臀棘。蛹喙显著，有离体与贴体之别。成虫能发微声，幼虫也能以上颚摩擦作声。 |
