是哺乳类中结构最高等的一类动物。脑很大且结构发达,两眼向前,四肢发展平衡,第一指(趾)与其他四指(趾)相对,这样可以把握物体。指(趾)端长有指甲。在中国分布的灵长类动物较多,如金丝猴、红面猴,它们群栖高山,以野果、嫩芽为食,也偷盗农作物。金丝猴毛色美丽,列为国家一类保护动物。猩猩身高可达1.4米,体重79~80千克,前肢长,直立时指可摸地。头尖,吻部突出,鼻平,口大,耳和耳部小。较聪明,能模仿人类的简单动作,因与人类形态结构相似,所以在医学、生物学上有十分重要的研究价值。
