法国管风琴家、医生。1875年 1月14日生于上阿尔萨斯的凯泽贝尔，1965年9月4 日卒于加蓬的兰巴雷内。求学于施特拉斯堡大学和巴黎、柏林。1893年随C.M.维多尔深造管风琴。1896和1906年先后在施特拉斯堡和巴黎担任巴赫学会音乐会管风琴师。后又在施特拉斯堡大学学医，在巴黎大学和柏林大学学神学。1912年到非洲当医药传教士,并举行管风琴演奏会,为创办医院筹募基金。1952年获诺贝尔和平奖金。他是J.S.巴赫作品的权威解释者。他著有《音乐诗人巴赫》，对巴赫作品中装饰音的处理原则加以阐述，对后来演奏巴赫作品的贡献很大。著有《德国和法国的管风琴制造艺术与演奏家》。他与维多尔合编了5本《J.S.巴赫管风琴作品全集》,后又与E.涅-贝尔热续编了3本。
