九阜山自然保护区位于尤溪县西南部，保护区植被区划属于中国东部湿润森林区，中亚热带常绿阔叶林地带，闽中、闽西戴云山——鹫峰山北部常绿槠类林小区，具有典型的地带性森林植被——中亚热带常绿阔叶林，森林资源丰富，森林覆盖率达96%。 区内分布的野生植物有171科1113种，野生动物有58科171种，西侧建有天宝庙，历史悠久，最高峰是类峰顶，海拔1222.4米，奇峰四起、岩石嵯峨、满目绿荫、别有洞天。区内地理成分复杂，山泉溪涧遍布，其中九阜溪流最大，属主要溪流，贯穿中部核心地带，总长约10公里，溪中多急流飞瀑，乱石险滩，水质极佳；这里独特的山地森林小气候特点，主要表现为四季均匀，温凉湿润，是避暑胜地，旅游的绝佳去处。 九阜山是距省会福州最近的重点林区，沿316国道距福州170公里，南平60公里，交通便捷。
