指气候、水文、生物和土壤等自然要素以及自然带从沿海向内陆逐渐更替的分布规律。其变化规律常表现为大致沿经度方向变化，故名。以中纬地区较明显。因在一般情况下降水从沿海向内陆逐渐减少，也就是主要因水分条件的变化所致，又称“干湿度地带性”。
