   在高于地面的土埨上栽种作物的耕作方式。中国华北、东北和内蒙古等地多用于栽培玉米、高粱、甜菜等旱地作物,其他地区主要用于栽培甘薯、马铃薯等薯芋类作物。垄由高凸的垄台和低凹的垄沟组成。其优点:垄台土层厚,土壤空隙度大,不易板结,利于作物根系生长;垄作地表面积比平地增加20%~30%,昼间土温比平地增高2~3℃,昼夜温差大,有利于光合产物积累;垄台与垄沟位差大,利于排水防涝,干旱时可顺沟灌水以免受旱;垄台能阻风和降低风速;利于集中施肥。垄的高低、垄距、垄向因作物种类、土质、气候和地势而异。作垄方法有整地后起垄和不整地直接起垄以及山坡地等高起垄。播种方法有种和扣种。
