| 叶蝉 Cicadellidae 同翅目叶蝉科昆虫的通称。因多为害植物叶片而得名。全世界共有1万多种，中国已发现1000多种。该科昆虫体小，长仅3～12毫米。外形似蝉，触角粗大。单眼 2或缺。特别是后足胫节有梭脊 ，上生刺毛 ，其中有2排粗大而明显的刺，这是区别相近种类的重要特征。
该科昆虫均以植物为食 ，很多种是农林业的重要害虫，如大青叶蝉、黑尾叶蝉、白翅叶蝉、小绿叶蝉、菱纹叶蝉等。有些种类还传布植物病毒病，如稻普通矮缩病、桑萎缩病、小麦红矮病等。通常以成虫或卵越冬。在温暖地区，冬季可见到各个虫期，而无真正的冬眠过程。越冬卵也产在寄主组织内。成虫蛰伏于植物枝叶丛间、树皮缝隙里，气温升高便活动。成虫和若虫均刺吸植物汁液。叶片被害后出现淡白点，而后点连成片，直至全叶苍白枯死。也有的造成枯焦斑点和斑块，使叶片提前脱落。成、若虫均善走能跳，成虫且可飞动离迁。若虫取食倾向于原位不动，成虫性活跃，大多具有趋光习性。
