Four extracts of petroleum ether,ethyl acetate,n-butanol and water were obtained from the methanol extract of the root bark of Periploca sepeium.
在对杠柳根皮的化学成分和根皮中挥发油成分及其生物活性研究的基础上,通过进一步对杠柳根皮的甲醇提取物的水悬浮液,经石油醚、乙酸乙酯、正丁醇不同极性溶剂萃取后,得到4种不同萃取物,经过硅胶柱层析、C18反相柱层析、Sephadex LH-20凝胶柱层析多次分离、纯化后,从乙酸乙酯萃取物中得到化合物I,从正丁醇萃取物中得到化合物II、III、IV;经化学分析结合IR、1H-NMR、13C-NMR、EI-MS等波谱分析,确定化合物I为β-香树素乙酸酯,化合物II为香草醛乳糖苷,化合物III为杠柳苷E,化合物IV为一强心苷类化合物。

【植物形态】
乌柳 灌木，高1～2米。小枝半下垂，灰褐色，幼时有绢状长柔毛，老时稍有短柔毛或无毛；芽卵形，具丝状毛，长2～5毫米.叶线形或狭线状披针形，长1～5厘米，宽2～4毫米，近于全缘，内卷，或边缘疏生细齿，初生时两面有绢状短柔毛，后近无毛；叶柄长3～5毫米，无毛或有丝状短柔毛。葇荑花序长1～15厘米；近无总花梗；花序轴有疏柔毛；苞片椭圆形或披针形，两面无毛；腹面有1腺体；雄花有2雄蕊，花丝全部合生；雌花子房无毛，无梗。蒴果，长约4毫米，无毛。花期6月。果期6～7月。 生于沙漠区的河岸、固定沙丘及轻盐渍化沙地。分布辽宁、吉林、内蒙古、陕西、宁夏、甘肃、青海、新疆等地。

味苦，性凉。
【功用主治】
清热，泻火，顺气。治风火牙痛，急性腰扭伤。
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，0.5～1两。外用：煎水含漱。
【选方】
治急性腰扭伤：乌柳鲜根一把，地骨皮适量。水煎服。
