垂直分布 vertical distribution
指从与地面高度或水层深度的关系所确定的生物分市,是生态分布的一个方面,为水平分布的反义词。在山岳,随着高度的升高,气温逐渐降低,所以从山麓到山顶,低温或高温便成为分布的限制因素而出现若干个生物分布界线,特别是固定性种类或是移动性小的种类,垂直分布尤为明显。在日本本州中部的山岳,是按下列次序排列的:阔叶常绿林带(低平地带,海拔0-700米)、夏绿乔木林带(夏绿乔木群落)(山岳地带,700-1700米)、针叶林带(亚高山带,1700-2500米)、灌木林及草本植物带(高山带,2500米以上)。这种垂直分布带,与由温度因素而出现的南北方向的水平分布带一样,表现为由低地到高地方向的分布,因此可作为山岳生态系统水平的成层结构来看待。此外,在水底,也可以看到水层深度所形成的垂直分布,而在湖泊,则可分为各种群落,如湖滨带、亚湖滨带、深湖带。在海洋,也可分为潮间带、潮下带、潮周带、渐深海带、深海带、超深海带。这些群落,呈成层分布,作为水中生态系统的成层结构来对待。
