| 吉大港 Chittagong 孟加拉国东南部吉大港专区首府，全国最大海港和第二大城市。人口约175万。位于孟加拉湾东北岸，戈尔诺普利河下游右岸的希达贡达丘陵脊上。
吉大港原为渔村。阿拉干人、阿拉伯人、波斯人和葡萄牙人先后到此贸易。1666年被莫卧儿帝国侵占。1947年印、巴分治后发展迅速，成为孟加拉国主要工业基地和交通枢纽。主要工业有炼油、造船、钢铁、鞣革、纺织、玻璃及食品加工等，沿河港区有17个码头和泊位，海轮沿戈尔诺普利河进出，大型船舶在港外装卸货物，年吞吐量达400万吨。全国的黄麻和大部分茶叶经此出口。有铁路与达卡、库米拉相通；公路与芬尼、库米拉相连。航空线通达卡、杰索尔、科克斯巴扎尔和加尔各答。市中心近邻港区是现代化的商业区。市内有医院、民族博物馆、医学院、技术研究所和吉大港大学。设有军事学院和商船科学院。 |
