| 塔城市 位于中国新疆维吾尔自治区西北缘，西与哈萨克斯坦共和国交界。面积3732平方千米 。1990年人口12.8万 。民族有汉、哈萨克、回、俄罗斯、锡伯、柯尔克孜、乌孜别克 、塔塔尔、达斡尔等。清光绪十四年（1888）始置塔城直隶厅，1913年改设塔城县 ，1984年设塔城市 。“塔城”意为“旱獭”。隶属伊犁哈萨克自治州。境内地势北高南低，北部为塔尔巴哈台山区，南部为额敏河冲积平原 ，海拔500～3000米。属温带大陆半干旱气候。为半农半牧区，农作物有小麦、大麦、玉米、豌豆、糜子、胡麻、油菜、向日葵等，是新疆粮油基地之一。畜牧业以产塔城牛闻名，是新疆养牛基地和优质细毛羊重点基地之一。工业有建材、电力、农机、皮革、酿酒、粮油加工和食品加工等。 |
