学名 Lepus yarkandensis ，英文名 Yarkand hare，兔科 Leporidae。分布在新疆南部塔里木盆地，为国家二级保护动物。
塔里木兔的耳朵特别大，体形较小，体长35～43厘米，尾长5～10厘米，体重不到2千克。由于长期适应干旱自然环境，其形态高度特化；毛色浅淡，背部沙黄褐色，尾部无黑毛，整体毛色与栖息环境非常接近；听觉器官非常发达，耳长达10厘米，超过其他兔类。利用长耳壳可接收到较远距离的微弱音响，及时发现并逃脱天敌。
栖息于盆地中各种不同的荒漠环境和绿洲，白天活动，晚间常在灌木丛下挖浅窟藏身。以灌木的树皮和细枝为食，也取食芦苇嫩茎。每年于5月和8月份繁殖两次，每窝产仔2～5只。
塔里木兔为新疆南部平原区的主要狩猎动物，以农区对农作物有一定危害，近几年数量明显减少。
