    分布在辽宁、内蒙古、宁夏、甘肃、河北、山西、陕西、山东、江苏及东南沿海和西南地区;在国外见干朝鲜和缅甸。
    成虫体长17.5-39毫米。体为黑色,有光泽。鞘翅上有大致排列为5行的小形白色毛斑;肩角基部常有斑点 ,但各部位的斑 点大小与排列很不规律;前胸背板宽大于长,两侧刺突粗壮,且胸面具有3个瘤状突,而中间1个较明显,触角超过体长,黑、白相间,第3节以上各节基部有淡蓝色绒毛。
    长江以南年发生1代,北方需2年以上才能完成4代。以幼虫在寄主木质部的隧道中过冬。成虫产卵于树干基部的缝隙中,初孵幼虫在树皮内盘旋蛀食,而后钻入木质部。幼虫取食橘、苹果梨、枇杷、柳、杨、桑、榆、槐等。为林木果树的主要蛀干害虫。
