中国植物病理学工作者的学术性群众团体，中国科学技术协会成员。国际植物病理学会团体会员和理事国成员。其基本任务是团结全国植物病理学工作者开展各种学术活动，普及植病知识，促进学科发展，为农业现代化服务。1929年成立，1949年召开了中华人民共和国成立后的第一次植物病理学术会议，戴芳澜为理事长。1953年召开了全国第一届代表大会。现任理事长裘维蕃。下设病原微生物、植物病害流行与测报、植物抗病育种、植物生理防治及土传病害和植病综合防治技术开发委员会。学会组织召开专业性、综合性学术会议和其他学术活动，并与英、美、日等国植病学会建立合作关系。主办学术刊物《植物病理学报》、《植病丛刊》等，还编译《植物病理学译报》。
