The paper reviews the research situation in legume tissue and cell culture and research advances in tissue culture,anther and pollen culture,embryo and endosperm culture,protoplast culture,cell culture and establishment of transformation system and summarizes the development trend of legume tissue and cell culture.

Progress has been made by Chinese in nearly every branches of tissue culture, including in vitro organogenesis, shoot tip culture, anther culture, ovary culture, endosperm culture, protoplast culture as well as mass cell culture.

In this study, the endosperm culture and colchicines treatment were conducted to investigate the mutational induction of different material from Actindia.

These fields include: shoots tip culture for rapid propagation, embryo culture for rapidpropagation and basic scientific researches; endosperm culture for seeking non—diploidy plants;the isolation and culture of protoplasts.
