The thesis takes Maxine Hong Kingston\'s China Men as a case to explore the issue of historical reconstruction in Chinese American literature and trace back the Chinese American history of being racially prejudiced and legally excluded.
本文通过对汤亭亭《金山勇士》的历史重建策略的研究,指出汤亭亭的华裔历史重建策略主要是通过对各种神话传说的改写及其在新的语境中的变异,通过赋予这些故事以深刻的文化内涵,而策略性地批判了主流社会对华裔移民历史的压制与抹杀,通过讲述其家族四代华裔男性在美国开拓、奋斗和扎根的经历,揭示出美国历史的断层,并从华人的角度建构了华裔历史。
