植物形态:落叶乔木,高达16米。树皮平滑灰色,富纤维,小枝密生绒毛。叶互生,常在枝端为对生,广卵形,长8~18厘米,宽4~10厘米,基部圆形或稍呈心脏形,先端尖锐,常有3~5不规则的深裂,幼枝或小树的叶显著有深裂,表面暗绿有粗糙伏毛,背面灰绿色,密生柔毛;叶柄长3~6厘米,密生绒毛。花黄绿色,单性异株雄花为腋生茅荑花序,花萼、雄蕊均4枚;雌花为腋生球形头状花序,萼管3~4裂,子房上位,1室。果为多数小坚果组成球形的复果,熟时红色。 生态分布:产我国南北各省;多生于村落城镇附近。 药用部分:复果、叶及树浆(乳汁)、根入药,夏秋采收。 用途:复果(楮实)性味甘、寒,无毒。能强筋骨,补虚劳,治阳痿,水肿,目不明及骨鲠等。用量:根皮或果实1~4钱。
