【来源】
为豆科植物豆茶决明的全草。
【植物形态】
豆茶决明 一年生草本，高30～60厘米，被毛。双数羽状复叶，互生，长5～10厘米，小叶8～35对；小叶片线状矩圆形，长5～9毫米，两端稍呈斜形，先端短尖；托叶1对，披针形，先端钻形，宿存。花黄色，腋生，1～2朵；花梗短，长5～10毫米；苞片1对，线状披针形；萼片5深裂，裂片披针形或广披针形，表面被细毛；花瓣5，倒卵形，长4～7毫米；雄蕊4；雌蕊1，荚果扁平，长圆状线形，长3～5厘米，密被灰黄色毛，具种子6～12枚。种子扁平，菱方形，浅黄棕色，长约3毫米。花期7～8月。果期8～9月。 生于林缘草地、路边。分布东北、河北、山东、浙江、江西、四川、贵州等地。 本植物的种子(水皂角子)亦供药用，另详专条。
【采集】
夏季采收，晒干。
【药材】
干燥全草，茎枝圆形，呈棕黄色，基部灰黑色，表面有纵纹及疣状皮孔，呈黄白色；质硬易折断，断面色白，松泡中空。叶多卷缩，或脱落，棕绿色或灰绿色；质脆易碎。残存荚果呈棕褐色。气微，味淡。 产于贵州、四川等地。
【性味】
甘苦，平。 ①《贵阳民间药草》："甘，寒，无毒。" ②《东北常用中草药手册》："甘微苦，平。"
【功用主治】
清肝明目，和脾利水。治目花，夜盲，偏头痛，水肿，脚气，黄疸。 ①《贵州民间方药集》："利尿，泻热，镇咳，补肾虚，清心，明日。" ②《民间常用草药汇编》："和脾消胀。治黄疸。" ③《贵阳民间药草》："清肝，明目。" ④《东北常用中草药手册》："清热利尿，健胃通便。治水肿，肾炎，口渴，咳嗽，慢性便秘。"
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，3～5钱；或研末。
【选方】
①治夜盲：山扁豆茎叶粉末二钱，煮猪肝或用蜂糖调服。一方以山扁豆茎叶二两煎水服。(《贵阳民间药草》) ②治半边头痛：山扁豆茎叶、头晕药各一两，青鱼胆草五钱。煎水服。(《贵阳民间药草》)
