The alkali-resistance of quartz glass was raisd by 7 to 8 times by coating a layer of mixed Al_2O_3-ZrO_2 colloidal solution on the surface of quartz glass, heating the coated quartz glass at high temperature and thus forming a protection layer on the surface of the glass.
