模印拼嵌画像砖 作法是先将画像，按粉本分别模印在多块砖坯上，入窑烧成砖后，再拼嵌在墓壁上。古代模印拼嵌画象砖，是在一块单砖构成一幅图像的画像砖基础上发展而来。东晋时期开始出现由多块砖所构成的龙、虎图像。南京万寿村东晋永和四年（348）墓中的龙、虎图像，由二至三块砖拼成。以后砖数日多，到东晋末南朝初，出现了由多达数十块到数百块砖构成的大幅画场面。如南京西善桥墓中的“竹林七贤和荣启期”画像砖。墓内壁面，用模印画像砖拼嵌成大幅砖画，主要在东晋南朝时期，出土地分布于南京及附近的丹阳县等地区。拼嵌砖画，内容除竹林七贤和荣启期外，还有守门狮、披铠武士、甲骑具装、羽人戏龙戏虎、出行仪仗、骑马乐队等；雕技纯熟，画面生动，运线流畅，构图严谨，场面宏大，具有气势。
