解释太阳耀斑脉冲阶段的一种模型。和薄靶模型不同,它假定太阳耀斑中的加速电子能向下贯穿到色球深处。厚靶模型是哈德逊等人首先建立的,认为大多数加速电子向下运动,贯穿到低色球,把能量转移给那里的气体,产生局部加热,引起可见光和紫外辐射增强。同时在那里通过轫致辐射产生硬X射线爆发。在这种模型里,通常都要假设荷电粒子在离开加速区时,具有很小的初始投掷角,以避免在跑向辐射源的半路上被磁镜反射掉。这种模型预言低层深处有硬X射线源,但很难说明活动区位于日面背后的X射线爆发。
