　　TRANSPAC网主要用于数据库更新和事务处理中的对话型通信，还可用于远程批式处理、数据库检索、信息传输或传真等通信。该网可按照国际电报电话委员会制订的X.25协议采取直接连网方式和通过电话或用户电报公用网的连网方式。当采用直接连网方式时，其传输速度为 110、 150、200、 300、600、1200、2400、4800、19.2千、48千波特／秒; 当采用电话网连接方式时其传输速度为110、150、200、300波特／秒；当采用用户电报网连接方式时其传输速度为50波特／秒。
　　
　　TRANSPAC网在巴黎、里昂、马赛、里尔、雷恩、南特等近20个城市设通信交换机(节点)和一些装有多路复用器的远程存取点。法国各地用户可以直接地或者利用电话、电报线路就近接入节点，以实现连网存取数据的目的。1979年，该网还装设一个国际交换节点机，开始国际数据传输业务。1980年起，可以同美国的TYMNET网、TELENET网,加拿大的DATAPAC网,欧洲的EURONET网连接。
　　
　　TRANSPAC网是世界上使用率最高的分组交换数据通信网之一。1984年,该网直接存取用户有17237个，数据传输量达2750亿个字符。1985年，该网除了为商业、技术、财政部门提供服务之外，开始向企业服务延伸。其用户类型:财政部门占13.2％,国营企业占4.5％,银行和财政部门占12.7％,保险业占17.6％、工业部门占21.6％、商业部门占9.8％、服务业占7.4％、信息生产业占3.4％，信息服务公司占7.6％，其他占2.2％。
　　
　　建设TRANSPAC网的投资逐年增加。1983年投资为 3亿法郎,1984年为3.75亿法郎，1985年增至4.2亿，估计1991年将超过20亿法郎。
　　
　　TRANSPAC网的营业额也逐年提高。1982年的营业额为1.5亿法郎，1983年为2.05亿法郎，1984年增至5.3亿法郎，1985年达10亿法郎。
