In this paper, the basic principle of directional fracturing control in building stone is discussed firstly, and then, the types of failure fracture and its prevention in building stone blasting have been introduced.

According to the review on the destroy examples of the two earthquakes of American Northridge earthquake and Japanese Hanshin-Awaji-daishinsai,the author analyzes the causes of the brittle fracture destroy of the steel structural joints,provides measures of preventing earthquake brittle fracture destroy of the beam and column joints,thus improving the seismic reliability of the steel structure.
