涡旋式无油机械真空泵是从涡旋式压缩机演变而来的一种新型的干式机械真空泵。
涡旋式无油机械真空泵的工作原理。构成涡旋式真空泵抽气用涡旋体的曲线为渐开线。固定的涡旋体称定子，转动的涡旋体称转子。转子无自转而以一定的回转半径平动公转。随着转子的平动公转，在两个涡旋体之间形成了吸气腔和压缩腔。吸入气体后的工作腔的容积随着转子的运动而缩小，从外圈向中心移动排出气体，连续完成了吸气、压缩和排气过程。
为了减轻泵涡旋体的重量，其基材用铝，在表面上涂镀一层特殊性能的聚四氟乙烯，以增加耐磨性和耐腐蚀性。该泵涡旋体间相邻工作腔的压差小 , 故气体泄露量小 , 泵的驱动转矩变化小，因此泵的噪昔低、振动小。
该泵特点是重量轻、体积小，为卧式结构，可以从大气压力下直接抽到10-1Pa，是一种使用范围很宽的粗抽用干式真空泵。
