用人工机械方法维持或辅助患者呼吸的治疗工具。其主要作用是保证患者所需要的足够的通气量,改善换气功能,给足够的氧和排出二氧化碳。对呼吸衰竭和呼吸肌麻痹的患者可起到关键支持治疗的作用。呼吸器大体有四类:①定压型(压力切换型):呼吸器输送气体到肺内,当压力达到预定数值后送气停止,吸气转换为呼气。②定容型(容量切换型):呼吸器输送按调节好的气量,当达到预定气量后,吸气转换为呼气。③定时型:按预定时间送气,从而达到呼吸转换。④高频呼吸器,分射流和振荡两种,是一种高频率低潮气量的呼吸支持疗法。其机理与以上呼吸器不同,临床应用有待进一步实践与总结。近年生产的呼吸器可具备多类型功能,可按病情选用。
